Review of #32 Dark Genesis by Dave Ferraro

Dark Genesis is AWESOME! and so is Dave Ferraro.

Throw in a parallel universe, supernatural beings, kick-ass lead female character and evil villains to the mix and you will get a Dark Genesis cake. :D

I know,  I'm cheesy like that but seriously, Dark Genesis is worth the midnight oil.

Dark Genesis grips you from the very beginning and kept slapping you with shock after shock.
The storyline is fantastic and fresh that you will not get bored at all.

I am in love with the main character because she is so strong and determined even though she has lost her memories.

Not only that, the connection between the main character and her entourage that she picks up along the story makes this book one of the best book I've ever read.

There is no doubt that Dave is in my favourite authors list.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #31 Surface by Tiffany Daune

'Surface' grips your attention from the very beginning.
This is because its filled with action, mystery and suspense.

The beginning is really good because it made made me feel as if I'm hanging off the edge of the cliff.
It made me question a lot of things and 'Surface' really got my attention.

I love how Tiffany gave a twist to the whole mermaid-siren thing, the idea is fresh and its good.

However, I didn't really get the chemistry  between Theia and Luc. Their love was so sudden, it made me stumble. It'll be really great if there's more suspense between them because readers could really see the chemistry between them grow into a beautiful thing.

The setting, which is in the sea, are not really explored.
Hopefully, the second book will be better in terms of the description of the setting and the chemistry between all characters.

All in all, 'Surface' is a wonderful read.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #30 The Legend of The Blue Eyes by B. Kristin McMichael

Another great book by B. Kristin McMichael!!

If you haven't read the review of "To Stand Beside Her" , click this.

The Legend of The Blue Eyes is the first book of The Blue Eyes Trilogy.
I have to say, this is a great read.

I love that the story is absolutely original and I want to give a huge a round of applause because the author actually took the time to craft the 'people' meaning The Tengu, Baku, Dearg-Du and Lycan ( Lycan in this story are sort of a type of vampires) clans.

I love how all these different clans are somehow interconnected with one another.

However, the author did not really explore the main character. I could see the carefully crafted minor characters but Arianna is kind of a mystery to me.

Hopefully, the next book will be better in terms of character advancement.

Overall, 'The Legend of Blue Eyes' is a great read.
 I  can't wait for book 2!

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #29 To Stand Beside Her by B. Kristin McMichael

I love love LOVE this book!

The content is original, the writing style is awesome and easy to understand.

I fell in love with Leila straight away because she is kick-ass and humorous.
I hated King Nalick at first because I was looking at Leila's point of view. But as her point of view changed towards Nalick, I started to like Nalick's character.

I love how the author is able to bring me and my imagination to this beautiful ride called, To Stand Beside Her.

Leila is one of best strong female characters I've ever seen because the author presented her as someone with a specific skill set.

Not only that, the other characters were also perfectly woven into the story.

To Stand Beside Her promises an engaging read, filled with the ups and downs of human life, loyalty, love and death.

Sincerely,
Selina. :D

Every second Callie spends in the past she’s altering much more than Joey’s fate. She’s changing the lives of everyone around her. And she’s growing closer to Joey by the minute.

#45 Easy "A" (Magic School U.S.A. #1) by Charlie Fey

Richard "Vegas" Beltran is an underachiever. That's bad for any student, but it's especially bad when you go to a wizardry school. Black Magic is something to be taken very seriously, but Vegas has been caught smoking "eye of newt" in the boys' bathroom, and all of his bubbling cauldrons contain ice and alcohol...

The principal, Professor Diaz, is ready to drop Vegas into a slower-paced magic class. But Vegas would rather die, Houdini-style, in a botched escape act than have to suffer through "remedial magic."

After all, Vegas only came to Absolution Academy, school for the "Paranormal Sciences," to learn a spell that would bring his girlfriend, Katherine, back from the DEAD.

Unfortunately, now that his tuition's been paid, he finds that resurrecting the dead is an act of Godslaughter--a forbidden form of magic--and at Absolution Academy, an illegal activity.
But "illegal" is a funny word... one among many that Vegas doesn't seem to know the meaning of...

**Easy A**

Vegas is determined to find the spell he needs to bring his beloved back from the DEAD. His teachers warn him that it's a criminal act. Haters are motivators, and Vegas is sure he'll be able to do what even his teachers CAN'T.

He strikes up a deal with creepy professor Allen Allens. If Vegas survives one night of "detention" in Dr. Allens torture chamber, Allen Allens will give Vegas a spell book that contains the spell he needs.

...The forbidden Resurrection spell...

And if Vegas doesn't pass the evil Doctor's death trap for teenagers? He can choose between being Allens' gorgeous young sex slave or face the cold grip of DEATH.

...Death is the better deal.

It's all or nothing for Richard Beltran and if he dies at least he'll never have to eat that sh*tty school cafeteria food ever again...

Review of #28 Blue Hearts of Mars by Nicole Grotepas

*Squeals*
THIS BOOK IS SUPER AWESOME!!

I admit, Blue Hearts of Mars took me by surprise.

The world of Blue Hearts of Mars is beautiful. The settings (Mars), characters, the interactions and the beautiful chemistry between Retta and Hemingway made me fell in love with this book instantly.

Blue Hearts of Mars is a much better read than Twilight.
Seriously.
No offense to all Twi-Hearts fans out there but Blue Hearts does not have cheeky, glittery vampire boys.
Its all android with human feelings and red hearts....
Which is awesome.
Plus, the cover is SUPERB!

The relationship between Retta and Hemingway was so beautifully spun, I can't help but keep reading it. The midnight oil that I burned was definitely worth it.

"Blue Hearts of Mars is undeniably a great piece of art, beautifully spun with a touch of dystopia, romance and happy ending."

Nicole Grotepas is definitely on my favourite authors list.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #27 Echo by Alicia Wright Brewster

Wow.

Warning: This one sentence might make you feel the intense urge to read Echo.

Imagine...the WORLD won't END if YOU DIE.
Excited??
Well, I am!
This book is great!

I really admire Ashara (The Main Character) because she did not start out as the typical kickass heroine.
She's mortal and ordinary.

Alicia had a great and original idea. The twists in the story is absolutely wonderful.

I really enjoyed the pace of the story, the sadness and tragedy, the chemistry and the abilities that the people had.

Its a great and scary world to live in but Echo has the perfect setting for the storyline to unravel.

Its awesome.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #26 Revival (The Variant Series) by Jena Leigh

Oh my gosh,
This book is seriously awesome.
It blew my mind with all the thrill, suspense, and the peek-a-boo romance within its pages.

It is absolutely, unbelievably GOOD!

I love the writing style and the way Jena brought in the character to the story.
The whole twist and turn of the storyline was unexpected.
There's a lot of laughter and it made my tummy hurt in a good way.

In addition,
It was a page turn from the beginning till the end.

My favourite characters in the book?
Alex and Declan!!
Love the chemistry between them.

Thank you, Jena for providing the opportunity for me to read your book.
The time taken to read it was absolutely worth it.

You are definitely in my favourite author's list.

Sincerely,
Selina. :D

Review of#25 Darkness of Morning by Samantha Boyette

Like I said, Darkness of Morning is the second installment of The Guardian of Morning Series.

It picks up really well from the first book and I love how Samantha explores the character in more ways.

Throughout the story, I really hated Dylan/ Morning because she was such a jealous bitch but I guess it wasn't really her fault. I believe a writer is good if you can actually bring out emotions from the readers so, cheers!

I love Kara because she's strong and she maintained her cool throughout the story. There was only a part where she was freaking pissed but it was expected of her.

The settings are good and suspense is GREAT.

Why oh why did you put the suspense at the end. It's SLOWLY KILLING ME but what's a book without suspense, eh?

Thank you Samantha for allowing me to review your book. It was absolutely divine.
Do let me review your third copy. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your series. :D

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #24 By My Side by Stephanie Witter

By My Side is a story of the bittersweet love between two people whose life is irrevocably changed.

The Main Character, Lily has a personality that I admire. She's strong, fun, albeit sarcastic but she uses her sarcastic side to protect herself.

Its a great read because Stephanie fully explored the character and the chemistry between Lily and Gabe.

Both has been giving sarcastic remarks for years and hated each other but the way Stephanie brings those two different yet same people made this book a fantastic read.

By My Side is a mixture of jealousy, death and abandonment and how both these characters went through the changes in their lives.

Stephanie, you're awesome. :D

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #23 Dystopia by Janet McNulty

I wish there are better words to describe how much I love this book.

Its AWESOME.

I love how the storyline glides from the starting to the end and the way the author describes the characters and the settings of the book.

I love the main character, Dana because she is headstrong, strong and stubborn.
I love how she tackled the challenges she faced but I was sad because someone close to her died in the story.

I love everything about the dystopia world, the existence of the evil government and the 'resistance group' fighting for the rights of true freedom.

I wish I have a true paperback copy of this book. :D

The ending was PURE SUSPENSE!!
Why oh why did you end it like that??? I'm so freaking curious about the end.

If there's book 2, I would love to get my hands on it. Hehehe.

Thank you, Janet for giving me a chance to review your book. It was a pleasure.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #22 The Torturer's Daughter by Zoe Cannon

First of all, I love how the dystopian society formed a world filled with fear of dissidents.
Zoe Cannon definitely instilled fear in all of her characters, making them follow the status quo and such.
It is very fascinating to read Becca's perspective and her relationship with her mother, which is a torturer.

Not only that, Becca's world was literally turned upside down and it made her question everything she knew in her world.
Heck, it even made me question everyone's motives.

She had a hard time figuring things out and her constant fear of dissidents made her paranoid about everything.

I really like the way Zoe Cannon explored Becca's character because the elements of human nature are definitely explored and the way she describes Becca's fabric of reality being torn apart was super good.

I didn't really like the ending but the ending was truly explosive.
I'd never expected Becca to make that kind of decision but I really admire her.

All in all, expect love, betrayal, sadness, loyalty and hatred in The Torturer's Daughter.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #21 Aurora by Marina Latcko

It is true that Aurora is one of a kind.

I like the storyline but the plot is a bit jumpy.
I get lots of confusion at some parts but I'm able to decipher it. (Hehe)
I don't really like the main character because she has a shallow personality and I thought that she will grow more mature as the story progresses but unfortunately, she didn't.

I love the other characters and the settings are good.
However, the writing style....makes the storyline hard to get across to the readers' mind.

I had a hard time figuring out things but I believe that with more practice, this book will be a great read.

Thank you Marina for the chats and the book.
Keep writing!

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review #20 Phantasma by Penelope Reece

Penelope!!! You're awesome!!!
I love love love love LOVE Phantasma!
Its a great read and I finished this in an hour. HOUR!!
I love Alphie and I was kinda shocked because she wasn't really human.
I liked the fact that Alphie and Noer are the same.
I was frustrated with the starting because I couldn't really understand some of the parts because it wasn't really clear.

However, as the story progresses, the writing style is much clearer, the characters have depth and I love and fear the setting of Limbo.

It was absolutely terrifying and I love how the storyline went from shock after shock.

Thank you Penelope for allowing me to review your book.
I would love to review your other books. :D
They sound awesome.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #19 Karmic by Denise Mathew

One word to describe the theme of the book, HUMOR.
It is absolutely funny and fun to read.

I seriously love all the characters especially Al (He is not the main character) because his spelling sucks and the way Denise describes him made me grin.

It has a great storyline, a steady plot, kick-ass Karma and awesome characters.

I'm in love with all of Denise's books which is of different types of genre. She can WRITE!!

Luke (The Main Character) is awesome and I find myself frustrated with him like how Daria feels.
High five, girl.

This was a great journey.
Thank you for bringing me there. :D

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #18 The Crush (Book One) by Denise Mathew

The Crush is another awesome book written by Denise Mathew.
I am absolutely in love with the world that Denise created.

I am also in love with the apocalypse theme and how the world changed when all the plastics in the world disintegrate and formed Vapour which killed a lot of people.

The Vapourcalypse, (:D) changed the world in so many ways and two different groups were formed.

I love the characters, settings and plot because there were many in-depth exploration of the characters and the plot is filled with suspense, love and tragic but brutal death.
My cup of tea. hehe

Its a great book and I wish to see the world in a movie.
It'll be a super great material. :D

Thank you again, Denise. The Crush is SUPERB!

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #17 Grey Boy by Denise Mathew

Grey Boy is a touching story because it made me think of human nature.
There is no doubt that people will judge you in ways you can't imagine, especially if you're the son of a suspected murderer.
I was moved by both major characters in the story because they're background is almost the same and the way Denise collided both of their worlds was so unique that you can't help but fall in love with the characters, settings and plot.

Both characters have a tragic past but somehow they helped each other to overcome the challenges.

Grey Boy is definitely a book filled with a suspense, love, hate and betrayal.
I love love love this book.

Thank you Denise for allowing me to review your book. It was absolutely touching and it taught me something new about life.

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #16 Breathe by Elena Dillon

Breathe is absolutely wonderful.

Breathe is absolutely breathtaking, bringing me to a journey filled with suspense, horror and love.
It really made me picture the world in different ways and the changes in someone's life after a terrible incident.

Breathe is absolutely beautiful yet terrifying at the same time.

I'm awed with Jasmine (The Main Character) because she tried her best to stay strong despite the challenges. Not only that, I love the way Elena spins her characters in such a way that you can't help but fall in love with all of them.

The plot is great, filled with great suspense and has a final bang.

Of course, who doesn't like a happy ending?
I do. :D

Thank you, Elena for allowing me the wonderful pleasure of reading your book. It was absolutely thrilling. :D

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #15 Kindred (Night School Vampire Hunter Novella #2) by Michelle Cornwell-Jordan

This is the second book of The Night School Vampire Hunter Novella.
Like I said in my last review, I Love Love Love This series.
Why?
There's more information on the other minor characters and I LOVE them.
Angel is definitely mature now as she is owning up to her powers and the love *sigh* for Rafael is pretty intense.
It made me go lovey dovey. hehes!

Angel fought for her brother even though she found out it wasn't really her brother.

Rafael turns out to be exactly like Jacob Black but screw it. I love this series.

The phantom little girl is absolutely terrifying.

I'm definitely looking forward to the next installment so I can see Angel kick more evil butts. :D

Thank you Michelle for allowing me to review your book. Do send me a copy once #3 comes out. :D
I would love to review it!

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #14 Night School Vampire Hunter Novella by Michelle Cornwell-Jordan

I love love love this series!

I really like how Michele tells the story through Angel's (Dasheen - The Main Character) blog.
However, I don't really understand some parts of the story because it wasn't really fully explored and there's no further or in depth information.

I really like the setting of the story and the characters but I don't really get a sense of the other minor characters in the story.

Its short and straight to the point but it lacks suspense. :D

All in all, its good and there's room for more improvement.

Thank you Michele for allowing me to review your book!!
I really appreciate it. :)

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #13 Shadow of The Wolf by S. M. Pace

Shadow of The Wolf is definitely a great read.
I didn't really like the main character, Toby, at first but in the story, you can see the transitions that Toby's character made.
He was stronger and believed in himself.
I was really happy that I reviewed this because the world in which Toby lives in scary and undeniably unexpected.
The relationship between Toby, his powers and his sister's connection to everything is staggering.
I love how the story fits the theme of fear and the supernatural. Not only that, the ending is sad but beautiful.

All in all, I'm really glad to have the opportunity to read this book.

Thank you, S.M. Pace. :D

Sincerely,
Selina.

Review of #12 Transcend by Christine Fonseca

Hey everyone!!

I'm so sorry that I haven't been updating my blog. There were some problems with my internet so I was catching up with all the books so I can write my review here.

So, here it is!

Transcend is sad, shocking and beautiful.
It took me to a journey filled with horror and I really pity Ien.
It literally took me by surprise when I read it till the ending. Its similar to the Phantom of The Opera yet its not.
The confusion, the love triangle, the miscommunication, the heartbreak and death signifies this book.
Its definitely dark and terrible but in the end, I am in love with this book.
From the cover to the contents of the book, it is remarkably good.
My cup of tea. :D

Thank you, Christine for letting me review your book.
It was an honor.

Sincerely,
Selina.
